Rishabh Pant, the India wicketkeeper-batsman who was injured in a horrific car accident last week, will be transferred from Dehradun to Mumbai for further treatment. Pant suffered injuries on his right wrist, ankle, toe, and back, as well as two cuts on his forehead and a ligament tear in his right knee.

He is currently being monitored at Dehradun’s Max Hospital. However, Delhi and District Cricket Association (DDCA) Director Shyam Sharma has revealed that Pant will be transferred to Mumbai for further treatment later on Wednesday. “I have been in touch with his mother. We will shift him to Mumbai for further assistance for his ligament tear,” Sharma told the news agency ANI.

Pant’s vehicle went out of his control before colliding with a divider on NH-58 in Uttarakhand’s Haridwar district early on December 30th and later caught fire. The Indian player reportedly managed to flee the car by breaking the windshield, but he sustained serious injuries.

The Indian Cricket Board had also issued a statement last week, saying, “Pant has two cuts on his forehead, a ligament tear in his right knee and has also hurt his right wrist, ankle, and toe and has suffered abrasion injuries on his back. Rishabh’s condition remains stable, and he has now been shifted to Max Hospital, Dehradun, where he will undergo MRI scans to ascertain the extent of his injuries and formulate his further course of treatment, as per the BCCI statement shared with the media.”

Pant was driving alone and reportedly fell asleep at the wheel when the accident occurred. He was driving from Delhi to Roorkee when his car collided with a divider near Hammadpur Jhal on the Narsan border of Roorkee.

Pant is reportedly no longer in danger and has been transferred from ICU to a private suite. Given the severity of the accident and the injuries sustained by the wicket-keeper batter, he will be out of action for an extended period of time.
