Valorant’s anti-cheat software Vanguard is considered the most effective software against cheaters. Now, Riot Games has announced that the same will soon be implemented in League of Legends.
Ever since Valorant launched, gamers have always commended the Vanguard anti-cheat. Cheating in Valorant is nearly impossible. Even if a new cheat is released, it doesn’t take long for Vanguard to identify and ban the cheater.
The new anti-cheat will make it necessary to be installed before running League once it is implemented. However, the game is sure to benefit from this move, as cheaters will be banned instantly.
Riot Games also faced a security breach last year, with hackers reportedly stealing source code for League. With the addition of Vanguard, any new cheats created for the game will just be a waste of time.
However, there is a catch with the Vanguard anti-cheat. Players will need to give up full access to their computer, as the anti-cheat works at the Kernel level and is always active even if the game is not.
Players also need to have TPM enabled along with Secure Boot in order to run Vanguard. These settings can be changed from the BIOS and may seem daunting to many at first. Furthermore, since it is always active, it uses some PC resources, although there is not much impact on modern systems.
While many raise concerns regarding privacy, the ultimate benefit of having no cheaters won the argument. When people were ready to give the cheats access to their computers, doing the same with an anti-cheat did not hold much of an argument.
