Former India player, Dinesh Karthik has returned to commentary duties after the conclusion of IPL 2023. He has been named in the English commentary panel for the upcoming Test Championship final 2023. The team consists of Ricky Ponting, Matthew Hayden, and Sunil Gavaskar, former Australia, and India head coaches, Justin Langer, and Ravi Shastri respectively, and Nasser Hussain, and Kumar Sangakkara. Karthik did his first commentary stint in English Summer of 2021.
Till he was signed by Royal Challengers Bangalore last year, the two-time World Championship winner did commentary stints and played domestic cricket. After having a dream season with the bat in the lower-middle order, the Tamil Nadu player was selected for India. From June last year till the 20-20 World Cup, the right-hander played international cricket. After the Men In Blue lost the semis, the wicketkeeper batter was dropped among others.
From then before this year’s IPL, he was doing commentary stints. Meanwhile, his return to the commentary box has drawn several reactions.
He is one of the reason for #HaarCB – Good guy but pura panvati hai.

Dinesh Karthik had a forgettable season in IPL 2023
After having a dream season with the bat last year, Karthik failed to repeat last year’s glory in the recently-concluded season. This was one of the reasons why RCB failed to qualify for the playoffs for the first time since 2019. In the seasons 2020 and 2021, they qualified for the playoffs on their own. Last year, they needed Mumbai Indians to beat Delhi Capitals to reach the playoffs. MI was already out of the tournament while DC needed a win to go ahead.
This time around, RCB failed to qualify after losing to finalists, Gujarat Titans. Now, it will be interesting to see whether he plays the game or not next year. Either he can play in the cash-rich league or retire and play overseason leagues. Suresh Raina, Yuvraj Singh, Manpreet Gony, Irfan Pathan, Suresh Raina, and Yusuf Pathan took the same route.
