Rajat Patidar made a name for himself after hitting a match-winning hundred against Lucknow in the Eliminator on May 25. However, things weren’t rosy for Patidar in the ongoing season. Earlier this year, the franchises opted not to buy him in the mega auction. The uncapped player went unsold in the two-day event. He was sitting at home and was about to get married during the season.
However, he got an SOS call to join the team after Luvnith Sisodia got injured and couldn’t participate in the tournament. The right-hander accepted to play for the team and postponed his marriage for the cash-rich league. Notably, the Madhya Pradesh player played for the team last year. In a game against Gujarat, he was given a chance to bat at number three and the youngster didn’t look back.
Meanwhile, his father has revealed that his son was set to get married on May 9. He added that the function was supposed to be a private affair. Now, the player will get married only in July as he will be relieved from the cricketing duties. After the 15th season, Jr. Patidar will play for his state team for the second phase of the Ranji Trophy.
“The plan was to get him married on May 9. It was supposed to be a small function and I had booked a hotel too in Indore,” Manohar Patidar, Rajat’s father, was quoted as saying by The New Indian Express.
“The marriage was not supposed to be a grand affair, so we didn’t get invitation cards printed. I have booked a hotel for limited guests but the booking has been advanced as we plan to hold the function in July once he is free from his responsibility with the Madhya Pradesh Ranji team,” he added.
Rajat’s innings helped the team win the Eliminator by 14 runs. With this win, the team has won the an Eliminator game after 2015. In that year, they beat Rajasthan. Ironically, Bangalore will play their next game against the same team on May 27.
