The UEFA champions league final 2022, which took place on May 27, was one of the biggest events in the sporting world. After all, the game was played between two big sides, i.e. Real Madrid and Liverpool. During that game, Tennis legend Rafael Nadal was seen watching the game at Stade de France in Paris. The image of him watching the game was uploaded by the official Twitter handle of the US Open Tennis.

Him being present during the game isn’t a surprise as the tennis player revealed in his autobiography that he would wake up at any hour to watch the Madrid team. The Spanish player had added that he builds his training program according to the timings of Real Madrid’s game. For the unversed, Nadal wanted to become a football player. He has also admitted that he becomes nervous before Real Madrid games, unlike his own Tennis matches.

Talking about the game, the experts felt that Liverpool were the favourites to win because of their diverse attacking options. However, Real Madrid came up with a strong defensive game and kept the pressure on the opposition going. Madrid Goalkeeper Thibaut Courtois saved around nine goals and made it difficult for Liverpool to score. Notably, this exciting game had begun 37 minutes late as per the schedule due to a disturbing crowd issue outside the stadium.

Talking about the lone goal scored by Madrid, Vinicius Jr scored the same. It turned out to be a decisive moment. For Liverpool, Mohammad Salah and Sadio Mane made several attempts to score but couldn’t penetrate Courtois. After the final whistle, the White Brigade became the most successful team in the history of the European Competition. They now have 14 titles to their name.

Also, this is their fifth title in the last nine years, and fourth under Carlo Ancelotti, most by any manager in the tournament. Recently, Madrid won the La Liga competition making it two titles win in one season.
