Many new batters have joined the Indian team over the past few years, with a good number of them becoming key players. Ishan Kishan has additionally been a part of Indian squads in various formats, whereas Shubman Gill has taken over as the team’s first-choice opener across all game formats. The Indian Cricket Board put their trust in Yashasvi Jaiswal as well as Ruturaj Gaikwad for the next series against the West Indies in Tests as well, sending a loud and obvious message that the change process has well and truly started in Indian cricket.
In Indian cricket, there is still one young player who has slipped too far down the chain, Prithvi Shaw. The young opener made a fantastic Test debut, striking a century against the West Indies. However, during the following few years, he struggled with consistency and lost his spot in the starting XI. Shaw had a terrible season with Delhi Capitals during the Indian Premier League this year, hitting just 106 runs in eight games (54 in one), and being benched as a result of his bad performances.
I can’t bat like Pujara sir bats: Prithvi Shaw
Prithvi Shaw spoke to PTI and made an unbelievable analogy with Cheteshwar Pujara. He said, “Personally, I feel I don’t have to change my game, but a little smarter than what I am. I can’t bat like Pujara sir bats or Pujara sir can’t bat like me.”
The Delhi Capitals opener then s[oke about how he wants to maintain his aggressive approach and doesn’t want to adapt to different formats by changing his approach. He said, “So, what I am trying to do are those things that have brought me here till, for example, the aggressive batting, I don’t like to change that.”
The Mumbai batter opened upon how his form is deteriorating in white ball after an excellent Ranji Trophy campaign last year. He said, “Everything has been going nice in red ball cricket from last year itself after I scored 370 (379 vs Assam). With white ball, especially the IPL, I feel everything is going the opposite. You just have 20 overs to think about batting. I speak to Sourav (Ganguly) sir, Ricky (Ponting) sir and Praveen (Amre) sir (in Delhi Capitals). But red ball cricket is where you get tested and shows how capable you are to get into the bigger level.”
Fans react to Prithvi Shaw’s assertion of playing aggressive cricket in all formats: –
Prithvi Shaw said, "whatever has brought me here, I'll stick to that method. I can't bat like Pujara sir, he can’t bat like me. I don't like to change my aggressive batting, be it T20 or any format". (Espncricinfo). pic.twitter.com/2qNyS3Y0F1

Disrespect on Pujara is crazy. He’s an old gen test batsman. Don’t think Prithvi shaw is coming any close to Pujara in test anytime soon. Pujara might not work in T20 but playing for 5 days straight and batting for hours is not something everyone can do.

I don’t think this is the best approach
He should learn it from Sachin …

Exactly. Pujara's style is outdated and boring and should retire with him.

Pujara is a strong force behind India winning in Australia in 2021
