Prithvi Shaw Selfie saga continues

India opening batter Prithvi Shaw’s problems off the field continued to pile up as he alleged women influencer Sapna Gill and her friend Shobit Thakur of assault. He claims to be manhandled and his car attacked by baseball bats in the Santacruz area of Mumbai after refusing to click selfies with Gill. The Oshiwara Police station was investigating the incident and filed a complaint.

As per the Police, Gill was called to the police station for inquiry on Thursday, and she was placed under arrest after preliminary questions established her alleged involvement in the incident. Her lawyer argued that the influencer was a fan of Shaw and wanted a selfie with the 23-year-old. But the cricketer was drunk and misbehaved with her. He also accused the cricketer of assaulting Gill with a wooden bat. Police also said that Gill and Thakur were in an intoxicated state during the incident.

Six others accompanied Gill and Thakur in motorcycles to threaten Yadav

A complaint about the incident was filed by Prithvi Shaw’s friend Ashish Yadav, who was with him when the incident occurred. Per the Police, the cricketer was approached by Gill and Thakur for a selfie; Shaw initially allowed them to get clicked with him. But when they insisted on more pictures with him, Shaw turned them down, following which Gill and her friend started to misbehave in an intoxicated condition. The hotel manager had to intervene as he asked both Gill and Thakur to vacate the premises.

When Shaw and Yadav stepped out, they saw Thakur holding a baseball bat. The accused went on to attack the windshield of their car. Shaw was also manhandled by Gill. The cricketer was shifted to another car while Yadav and others drove his car to Oshiwara. Yadav observed that three motorcycles and a white-coloured car were chasing their vehicle. At 4 AM, the chasers attacked his car while taking a U-Turn near a petrol pump on Link Road.

The six persons on motorcycles, along with Gill and Thakur, both sitting in a car, abused Yadav and his friends. Yadav then took the car to Oshiwara police station. The eight accused followed Yadav to the station and blackmailed him for Rs 50,000 to settle the issue, or she would lodge a fake police complaint against them, as per the Police.
