Former India cricketer Ambati Rayudu might join politics ahead of the 2024 Lok Sabha elections. He announced his retirement from cricket ahead of the IPL 2023 final. Talking about him contesting elections, Rayudu might either contest for the YSRCP party in Krishna or Guntur districts. The right-hander hails from the Guntur district and notably has met the YSRCP chief, YS Jagan Mohan Reddy twice in the last week.

Even though the latter is keen to field Rayudu in polls, the decision on whether to field Rayudu in assembly or Lok Sabha polls is yet to be taken. Meanwhile, the former India cricketer said that Andhra Pradesh CM, Reddy is an inspiration for youngsters who want to make a career in politics.

“CM Jagan Mohan Reddy is a big inspiration for youngsters entering politics. He is spearheading development in all the regions instead of concentrating on one area,” Rayudu was quoted as saying by Times Of India.

On the other hand, Rayudu, who quit the game last month, has been signed by Chennai Super Kings’ subsidiary, Texas Super Kings in the US. Notably, the CSK franchise brought the Texas-based side a while back for the inaugural edition of the Major Cricket League. In the team, players such as Devon Conway, Rayudu, Dwayne Bravo, and Mitchell Santner have been signed.
