‘Phir rone lag gaye ye log toh’ – Fans react as Jos Buttler decries Dharamsala pitch ahead of Bangladesh clash in ODI World Cup 2023

Jos Buttler and England would be hoping for a comeback against Bangladesh after a poor outing in the opening ODI World Cup 2023 encounter

Prior to England’s ODI World Cup 2023 match versus Bangladesh at the Himachal Pradesh Cricket Association (HPCA) Stadium, Jos Buttler, the captain of the team, yelled at the outfield in Dharamsala. Earlier, following the contest involving Afghanistan as well as Bangladesh on Saturday, October 7, the top cricketing body gave the Dharamsala outfield an “average” rating.

The England vs. Bangladesh game will still take place on Tuesday, October 10, despite concerns about the outfield. Buttler said that it is not a good situation for a team to find themselves in if players choose to hesitate before jumping or throwing their bodies over the line. The English skipper spoke ahead of the clash against Bangladesh in the pre-match press conference.

Jos Buttler further said, “Yeah, a few I think, it’s poor in my own opinion. I think any time you’re sort of talking about being careful diving or sort of being careful when you’re fielding, it sort of goes against everything you want to be as a team.”

The Rajasthan Royals batter added that, “You know you want to dive through our houses to save a run. So that’s obviously not ideal, the way the surface is, the outfield. But we won’t use it as an excuse, we’ll adapt to it. But yeah, certainly if you feel like you have to hold yourself back, it’s not a place you want to be as a team or player, or in a World Cup match.”

“We’re lucky Mujeeb hasn’t got a serious knee injury”: Jonathan Trott

After Afghanistan’s humiliating loss to Bangladesh in their ODI World Cup 2023 match on Saturday, October 7, head coach Jonathan Trott voiced concerns about the poor outfield qualities at the Himachal Pradesh Cricket Association Stadium at Dharamsala.

He said, “I just think if you’ve got players unsure of whether they can dive…when you’ve got players worried about getting injured, I mean, we’re lucky Mujeeb hasn’t got a serious knee injury.
