Bangladesh has put India under a lot of pressure in the final innings of their Test match at the Shere Bangla National Stadium in Dhaka. Mehidy Hasan Miraz, the Bangladeshi all-rounder, was the go-to man for the home side while defending the small target of 145 runs.
The 25-year-old did not disappoint as he completed his five-wicket haul to put India on the back foot. He got the wickets of Shubman Gill, Cheteshwar, Virat Kohli, Axar Patel, and Rishabh Pant. The wicket of the former Indian captain, Virat Kohli, was the best executed of all.
The wicket fell on the penultimate ball of the 20th over. After observing Kohli’s strategy of stepping forward to defend spin deliveries, Mehidy got one to land on the good length. He set him up by bowling fuller deliveries and then pulled the length back to get the wicket. The ball hit the bat and dropped towards the short leg, but fielder Mominul was alert enough to complete the catch, displaying excellent reflexes.
He once again used a similar strategy against Rishabh Pant, where he bowled fuller deliveries to set him up and trapped him LBW on a good length delivery. With the wicket of Axar Patel, Miraz completed his ninth five-wicket haul in Test Cricket.
As for the game, Shreyas Iyer and Ravichandran Ashwin then joined hands to try and get the team across the line. At the time of writing this article, the two have brought down the equation of chase down to 26 runs required to win the game and the series.
In the meantime, Twitter praised 25-year-old Mehidy Hasan Miraz for his outstanding performance against India, which put them on the verge of defeat. “Mehidy hasan miraz what a star.
