‘Niche se zarur hoga’- Fans react as Joe Root predicts highest run scorer for ODI World Cup

Joe Root has predicted the highest run scorer for the upcoming World Cup in India.

Joe Root, England

Former England skipper Joe Root has predicted the highest run scorer for the upcoming World Cup in India. He believes that wicketkeeper batter Jonny Bairstow will be the player who will score the most runs in the tournament. Root believes that Bairstow is an explosive player in white ball cricket, which is why he chose Bairstow.

England will be desperate to defend their title when they take the field in the upcoming ODI World Cup in India. Despite having a player like Ben Stokes in the team, Joe Root, one of the best batters in the world, has predicted Jonny Bairstow to emerge as the leading run-scorer in the World Cup 2023.

He is a wonderful white ball player, and he has been so consistent for us at the top of the order: Joe Root

Root said in a video uploaded by the Cricket Governing Body’s official Instagram handle. He said, “I am going to go for Jonny Bairstow. Speaks for himself. He is someone who, I think, has always got some point to prove. He is a wonderful white ball player, and he has been so consistent for us at the top of the order. His partnership with Jason Roy has always gotten us off to amazing starts. Down to the destructive batting in the powerplay. It’s quite evident, so it will be nice to see him doing something special again.”

He also predicted about the highest wicket-taker he backed England spinner Adil Rashid to lead the chart. He stated, “Adil Rashid. In those conditions, so many different skills and variations are called upon. And how important is it to take wickets in the middle overs, and he seems to be the master at that. He has done such a wonderful job for us for such a long time. A wealth of experience, and I anticipate him being very difficult on these wickets, especially as the tournament progresses, the squares and the wickets get a little bit tired-er and start to give a bit more turn.”
