India won the match against Bangladesh on November 2, Wednesday in the ongoing 20-20 World Cup 2022 and it was a close game, as the Men in Blue clinched the match by just 5 runs in the DLS method. However, post the defeat, the Bangladeshi star cricketer, Nurul Hasan, claimed that a few rules did not go their way. For the unversed, during the 7th over of the match, before the rain-interrupted when Bangladesh were reeling at 62/0 chasing 185, Arshdeep Singh made a throw from the boundary.
However, a video surfaced on the internet later on claiming that the Indian great Virat Kohli, who was within the 30-yard circle, fake fielded to distract the batters. “We all saw that it was a wet ground. Eventually, when we talk about these things, there was also a fake throw. It could have been a five-run penalty. That also could have gone our way, but unfortunately, even that didn’t materialise,” Hasan said after the match in the press conference.
Was it just an accident from team India or there is more to it?
It was not it as the Bangladesh players claimed that they were forced to play in the wet outfield. After the 7th over, the rain interrupted the match and the target was reduced to 151 off 16 overs. The players claimed that they were forced to play and it added to the controversy.
During the first innings, the Indian great claimed a no-ball, pointing that it was the second bouncer of the over, to which the umpires obliged. All these incidents added fuel to the fire and India winning the game came as the icing on top of the cake. Concerning the match, after being forced to bat first, India put on a total of 184 runs on the board on the back of fifties from KL Rahul and Kohli.
However, post-rain-interruption in the second innings, Bangladesh lost momentum and eventually lost the match by 5 runs, much to the dreariness of the team management and Bangladeshi fans. Fans, who were anguished by the incidents, trolled that the Indian cricket board had bought the umpires before the start of the ongoing 20-20 World Cup mentioning that the full form of the World Cricket Body actually expands to Indian Cricket Council.
Let us take a look at a few interesting claims from fans on Twitter:
