‘Mental game start ho gyi inki’ – Fans react as Steve Smith takes fresh dig at English media over Alex Carey’s haircut rumours

It all kicked off when Alastair Cook initially claimed that Alex Carey had not paid for haircut in Leeds.

The ongoing Ashes has been filled with action, with players, fans and media equally participating to add more spice to the cracking contest England and Australia have been engaged in. The Ashes has currently panned out to promise some exciting finishes to the series. Every Test match so far in the series has certainly gone down to the wire with the better side in the Test match eventually going on to winning it. The first two Test matches were won by Australia whereas the third Test match saw a spirited England side fighting back and winning the Test match in a thrilling encounter.

After a good turnaround time for both teams, the fans are expecting a good battle between bat and bowl as the players are well-rested and would be raring to go. Throughout this break, players were seen relaxing around by going out on outings or spending time with their friends as well as family. Recently, the star Australian batter Steve Smith was seen spending some quality time with wicketkeeper-batter Alex Carey. Smith also posted a picture of the duo mentioning that Carey got a haircut.

Actually, this post was in reference to a bizarre instance which came into light when the former England captain Alastair Cook at the time of commentary on The Sun said that Carey visited a hairdresser in Leeds. Cook claimed that the wicketkeeper batter left the barbershop without paying. However, these claims were later called out to be fake by Cricket Australia and team management as Carey did not get any haircut during the time.

The former Australia skipper took to Twitter and posted a picture of himself with Alex Carey and wrote, “I can confirm that Alex Carey has now had a haircut and that he paid for it.”

In the ongoing series, both Australian players have been in great form and have played useful knocks whenever the team has demanded. Smith has played three matches and has gone on to score 190 runs, whereas Alex Carey has also gone on to score 142 runs in as many matches.
