Meet Saurabh Kumar, the uncapped 30-year-old joining India’s Test squad against England

Sourabh Kumar, India’s most recent entry, hails from Baghpat, Uttar Pradesh. He is a left-arm spinner who represents Uttar Pradesh in domestic cricket. Kumar recently made headlines again after taking a five-wicket haul in a match against the England Lions. This was his 22nd five-wicket haul in his career. India A went on to win the match, and the Indian selectors praised his contributions.

Kumar has played 68 first-class games for Uttar Pradesh, scoring 2061 runs in total. He debuted in 2014. Furthermore, with the ball, he has 290 wickets. This was not the first time he received a call from the Indian selectors. In 2022, he was named to the team against Bangladesh. However, he did not get to make his debut. With Axar Patel and Ravichandran Ashwin present, the possibilities are grim once again.

Besides this, he has five-wicket hauls against New Zealand and Bangladesh A. Kumar learned to bat in addition to bowling whenever the team requires it. He has two first-class hundreds and an average of over 27. One interesting detail about Kumar is that he left the Indian Air Force (IAF) to play cricket. He pursued his passion for cricket and quit one of the most prestigious positions.

Three new players included in place of KL Rahul and Ravindra Jadeja

KL Rahul and Ravindra Jadeja have been ruled out of the forthcoming second Test against England in Visakhapatnam, which begins on February 2. Rahul experienced soreness in his right quadriceps, while Jadeja sustained a hamstring strain. As a result, they were excluded from the team. Furthermore, the selectors announced the team for the second Test match, which included three new faces.

Sarfaraz Khan has finally received a call from the selectors for the 2nd Test match. In addition to him, Sourabh Kumar and Rajat Patidar were also on the team. Because India will be missing its key players like Virat Kohli, Rahul, and Jadeja, it will be intriguing to see the team changes made by the team management.
