The Asia Cup 2023 has been one of the most talked-about topics in cricket recently. The tournament was awarded to Pakistan, but Asian Cricket Council (ACC) Chairman, Jay Shah, stated that India will not travel to Pakistan and that the tournament will be held at a neutral venue. This sparked a heated debate about the tournament’s future.
Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) chairman, Najam Sethi, called for an urgent meeting of the ACC. Shah met Sethi in Bahrain on the 4th of February. As per recent reports, it has been decided that the Asia Cup 2023 will be played in the United Arab Emirates (UAE), with Pakistan retaining the hosting rights.
However, it has now been reported that Pakistan is thinking of not sending their players to India for the ODI World Cup 2023. India will host the mega event October-November later this year.
“PCB isn’t happy with this thinking that the Asia Cup can be relocated to some neutral venue, name of UAE is on top of the list which might get the hosting, but if it happens Pakistan will not travel to India for ICC World Cup 2023,” a source was quoted by the ANI.
Previously, India’s refusal to visit Pakistan infuriated former PCB Chairman Ramiz Raja. Raja went on the offensive, claiming that unless India visits Pakistan, their team will not tour India for the upcoming ODI World Cup in 2023. Things began to improve with the arrival of Najam Sethi at the helm.
“Finally, we have a date now to meet ACC officials. I will attend ACC’s meeting on February 4 in Bahrain. I am not sure about our stance for now; I will decide it in the meeting, keeping an eye on the situation,” Sethi had earlier said.
Sethi also provided an update on the Indian Cricket Board’s demand on the row, stating that while they are willing to host Pakistan for the World Cup, they are unwilling to travel to Pakistan for the Asia Cup. “India Cricket Board wants Pakistan to travel to India, but Indian Cricket Board doesn’t want India to play in Pakistan. This is not something new for us,” said Sethi.

Good. South Africa qualified. And it’s a fair chance for Ireland and Zimbabwe to book their place in WC. Meanwhile, Pakistan will come in the end. You can’t fight with ICC. Pani me rahke magarmacch se bair mat karo.
