The 20-20 World Cup continues to bring in upset after upset, the latest victim of which are the Pakistan national team. Zimbabwe, the team considered to be one of the minnows came up with a thrilling win against Pakistan in Group 2 match on Thursday.
What followed was a festival-like celebration in the stadium and back home in Zimbabwe. Probably the best view of the historic win was from the commentator’s box. Mpumelelo Pommie Mbangwa, former Zimbabwe cricketer had the best seat in the house as he witnessed Zimbabwe’s one of the most memorable wins in a World Cup.
Naturally, the former player was over the moon and could not contain his emotions. As soon as Zimbabwe wicketkeeper Regis Chakabva took the bails off, Mbangwa went on a dramatic emotional surge and called the game in a manner that is winning hearts on the internet. With the fall of the last wicket, Pommie Mbangwa began narrating the win in a poetic fashion that has reverberated around the cricketing world. This is what he said:
“And Man! Man oh man, heart-stopping stop I tell ya. But what a victory for Zimbabwe. They were gone, probably dead and half buried at the halfway stage with just a 130 on the board. But somehow, somehow with those tall ballers, with the bounce here at Perth, with Raza in the middle with 3, they fought and fought. And finally managed to get home. What a win, by just one run!”

So good this from Pommie Mbangwa! Top commentary!

As for the game, it was a low-scoring affair that went to the very last ball. Zimbabwe started off in a sensational fashion but could not get to a big total as they lost four wickets in six balls in the middle. With just 130 on the board, it looked like Pakistan’s game to lose and that is what happened.
The Asian team failed to make partnerships in the middle and left the run chase to the bowlers. Zimbabwe led by skipper Sikandar Raza bowled beautifully and clinched a thrilling win. As a result of it, qualification from Group 2 has been thrown wide open and Pakistan’s road looks bleak.
