The World Champion Argentina continue their winning run in the friendly football tour. The South American team beat Curacao 7-0 on Tuesday night. Star Argentinian footballer Lionel Messi shined in Argentina’s victory as he scored a hat trick in the game. He also created history by becoming the first Argentinian player to score more than 100 goals in international games.
Messi’s Magic worked once again for Argentina as they put Curacao 5-0 down after his amazing hat trick in the first half. Messi opened the account of goals for Argentina in the 20th minute when he smashed the ball into the net from the edge of the box. Minutes after him Nico Gonzalez scored a goal in the 23rd minute to take the lead up to 2-0.
Messi further continued his magic and scored two more goals before halftime. He put balls into the nets in the 33rd minute with a crossed shot right to the goalkeeper. The Caribbean team has no answers for the unstoppable Messi and failed to handle the pressure. The defense of Curacao was nowhere in the game as they gifted two more goals in the next four minutes. In the 35th minute, Messi passed an easy ball to Enzo Fernandez’ who smashed it in the goal post to take the lead up to 4-0. Two minutes later Messi scored his hat trick and shocked Curacao with another goal.
Cristiano Ronaldo leads the chart for most international goals
With his amazing hat trick, Messi broke into the list of players who have scored more than 100 Goals in international games. He is the only third player to do so and is behind Portuguese superstar Cristiano Ronaldo and Iranian Ali Daei. Ronaldo has 122 goals in international games while Ali has scored 109 goals for Iran. Messi with the hat trick has 102 goals for Argentina.
Earlier, this week Argentina skipper Lionel Messi was felicitated by the South American Football Association for his contribution to Argentina. A life-size statue of him was inaugurated at the museum of the Association. His statue will be placed beside Pele and Maradona.
