Both have failed to live up to their weight and transfers and may be leaving as soon as this summer. As a result, Real Madrid has offered the shirt to Vinicius Jr. The Brazilian has been one of the best wingers in the world over the last two seasons and appears to have no plans to change his jersey number, 20.
According to ESPN Brazil, Vinicius has rejected Real Madrid’s offer to wear number 7 next season. Kits like these carry a lot of weight when they come from a megastar like Ronaldo. United experienced the same thing after the Portuguese left the club. One could argue that, aside from Edinson Cavani, there has yet to be a successful successor at Old Trafford.
The same can be said for Ansu Fati’s brave choice of Lionel Messi‘s number 10 Barcelona jersey. The Spaniard was bound for incredible success but has fallen down this season and currently looks like a shadow of his former self. As a result, it is not surprising that Vinicius may have already declined the opportunity to take on such a heavy responsibility.
