In the 23rd match of the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2023, Rajasthan Royals (RR) beat Gujarat Titans by three wickets. Riding on half-centuries of Skipper Sanju Samson and Shimron Hetmyer RR registered their first victory against the defending champions. Samson and Hetmyer added 59 runs for the fifth wicket and helped RR to put up a magical performance.
Samson in his innings scored 60 runs off 32 balls with the help of six maximums and three boundaries. He along with Hetmyer rescued RR from 55-4 and led them to cross the line. This is RR’s first win against GT in four matches. However, after his amazing performance senior presenter Harsha Bhogle backed him for the Indian team.
Bhogle came up with a suggestion for the Indian selectors and said that he would play Sanju Samson in T20Is for India. “I would play Sanju Samson in the Indian T20 team every day”, wrote Bhogle on Twitter. Notably, the Kerala-based batter has impressed everyone with his leadership abilities. He led RR to the finals in the previous season and is currently the table topper in the league.
Had enough omelettes with two eggs: Sanju Samson
Ahead of this game, Samson didn’t have a great time with the bat. He was dismissed for a duck in the previous game and was unable to perform for his team. However, talking about the same at the toss Samson had said, “I think I’ve enough omelettes with two eggs (two ducks), time to score some runs today (smiles).” Notably, Samson not only performed but also win the game for the Rajasthan Royals.
Notably, this is RR’s fourth win in five matches and the team is leading the points table with 8 points. On the other hand, this was the second defeat for the Gujarat Titans and they have to assess their home conditions soon. They lost both of their matches at the Narendra Modi Stadium while defending a total.
Meanwhile, on mega Monday, Chennai Super Kings will take on Royal Challengers Bangalore at the M Chinnaswamy stadium in Bengaluru. CSK has an impressive record against RCB and they will look to continue their dominance. Meanwhile, RCB will also expect to continue their winning run.
