Lionel Messi has attempted to ease tensions within the Paris Saint-Germain front three by lavishing praise on fellow superstars Kylian Mbappe and Neymar. The relationship between Mbappe and Neymar has not been the best with the former recently admitting the pair are ‘hot and cold’. During the start of the season, the duo clashed over penalty-taking duties.
As far as the results are concerned, it would seem as if there’s no animosity between the duo. PSG are unbeaten in Ligue 1 and the attacking trio has combined for 19 goals and 14 assists in just eight league games so far this year.
Speaking to TUDN, Messi admitted he couldn’t be happier working with the two talented forwards.
“Kylian is a different player, a beast who is very strong in one-on-one, who goes into space, who is very fast, who scores a lot of goals. He is a complete player and he has proved it for years, and in the years to come, he will certainly be among the best,” he said.
Messi also jumped at the chance to express his delight at playing alongside former Barcelona teammate Neymar. The pair became close friends at Camp Nou and are now tearing up defences together once more.
“With Neymar we know each other by heart, we enjoyed a lot of time together in Barcelona. I would have liked to have been able to enjoy that for longer at Barcelona, but life found us again in Paris, we are happy to be together, I love playing with him, being with him on a day-to-day basis,” Messi added.
While there is every chance that Messi could come up against either – or both – of his club accomplices as they vie for football’s biggest prize in Qatar from November to December, Messi is also super-aware that they will need to pull in the same direction in order to pull off what PSG’s ambitious owners prize most – the Champions League.
