The Nepal Cricket Team won the first match of the Asian Games 2023 against Mongolia on September 27 in Hangzhou, China. Notably, they recorded a historic victory and shattered a plethora of records during the play held by top teams. Speaking about the match, it was the Mongolian skipper who won the toss and invited the Nepal team to bat first.
After being sent to bat first, the Nepal team posted a massive total of 314/3 in just 20 overs. Notably, they didn’t have a great start as their openers, Kushal and Aasif, departed for just 19 and 16 runs, respectively. Following that, star batter Kusal Malla hammered an unbeaten 137 runs from just 50 balls, featuring eight boundaries, 12 sixes, and a solid strike rate of 274.
In addition, skipper Rohit Paudel also hammered 61 runs from 27 balls. However, the most exciting moment arrived when great middle-order batter Dipendra Singh hammered his half-century in just nine balls. Notably, his magnificent knock shattered the all-time record of Indian legendary batsman Yuvraj Singh, who scored his half-century in just 12 balls during the 2007 T20I World Cup.

The great batter also hammered six straight sixes in the first six balls faced and India’s all-rounder also did against English star pacer Stuart Broad in the 2007 T20I World Cup. Later, while chasing, Mongolia were all bundled out for just 41 runs, giving Nepal a massive win in the Asian Games 2023.
Notably, this is a terrific start for the Nepal team, and it clearly seems they will give a tough fight to Team India, who will start their campaign on October 3. The Nepal team also performed magnificently against India and Pakistan in the group stages of the Asia Cup 2023.
