‘Kya fayda bilaterals jitke’- Fans react as India dominate West Indies in 3rd ODI to clinch series 2-1

India produced a dominating show to thrash West Indies by 200 runs in the third and final ODI of a three-match series on Wednesday, at the Brain Lara Stadium in Tarouba, Trinidad. The Men in Blue clinched the series 2-1, and they have now won 13 consecutive ODI series against West Indies, stretching all the way back to 2006.

West Indies skipper Shai Hope invited the visitors to bat first, and the Indian openers showed a display of dominance from the start as Shubman Gill and Ishan Kishan made a 143 runs partnership in just 19.4 overs. Hardik Pandya led India again, in the absence of Rohit Sharma. The Men in Blue have made two changes to their squad, with Ruturaj Gaikwad and Jaydev Unadkat replacing Axar Patel and Umran Malik.

India produces all-round show to clinch the series

Putting into bat first India set a massive total of 351/5. Shubman Gill and Ishan Kishan’s opening for India gave them a fiery start. The Jharkhand wicket-keeper batter initially being dropped was dropped by Keacy Carty on 9 runs. He went off to score 77 runs off 64 balls. despite not always looking in control. It was his third half-century in the series.  Gill scored 85 runs off 92 balls, and they both took India to 73 for no loss by the end of the tenth over.

Ruturaj Gaikwad who was playing in his second ODI failed to have an impact as he was dismissed cheaply off Alzarri Joseph’s ball to first slip for just 8 runs. Hardik remained unbeaten on 70 runs off 52 balls, while Samson hit 51 runs off 41 deliveries. Suryakumar Yadav, batting at No. 6, demonstrated his T20 fluency. He scored 35 runs from 30 balls, including sixes on both sides of the wicket behind the square. Romario Shepherd was the standout bowler for the hosts, taking two wickets.

Shardul Thakur claimed four wickets for the visitors, while Kuldeep Yadav had two dismissals. While Mukesh Kumar made early breakthroughs by dismissing Brandon King, Shai Hope, and Kyle Mayers. Jaydev Unadkat claimed a wicket in his first ODI in nearly eleven years, getting Carty to edge one to the right of the first slip, where Gill made a low catch.
