‘Koi aur achha player hai bhi nahi wahan’ – Fans react to Sri Lanka supporters shouting Babar Azam’s name during LPL 2023 game

Babar Azam was the name on every fan’s name as he took part in the Lanka Premier League 2023

Babar Azam

Everywhere Babar Azam goes, there are cheers and his fan base has been growing a lot of late. Wherever he performs, admirers gather to watch him because he draws large crowds. The Pakistani captain most recently took the field for Colombo Strikers on Sunday, July 30, in their game versus Jaffna Kings while playing in the Lanka Premier League 2023.

A supporter was overheard shouting loudly for Babar when the Strikers decided to bowl first. The fanatic repeatedly yelled Babar’s name, demonstrating how much he adored the well-known cricketer.

How did the LPL game pan out?

The Kings stood at 71 while losing a total of three wickets when it occurred in the tenth over of the innings. Priyamal Perera and Towhid Hridoy, the new rising star from Bangladesh, were at bat as the Kings attempted to salvage their innings.

Babar’s first contribution to the game came when he took a good catch to get rid of Charith Asalanka. The batter attempted to smash the delivery from Lakshan Sandakan but sent it right at Babar, who stood at long off.

After losing five wickets, the Kings eventually ended the innings at 173 for a loss of five wickets. Hridoy, who scored 54 runs from 39 balls while hitting four fours plus a six, was Jaffna’s star batter.

Thisara Perera, the team’s captain, gave the innings some impetus with an amazing cameo of 14 runs from just seven balls. One wicket each was taken by Naseem Shah, Chamika Karunaratne, Matheesha Pathirana, and Sandakan.

Mohammad Nawaz, the Pakistani left-arm spinner, failed to pick up a wicket but only conceded 24 runs in his four allotted overs. It’s interesting to note that Niroshan Dickwella, not Babar Azam, served as the Strikers’ captain for the match.

In the match, Babar also made his LPL debut. The Lahore-born batsman is among the greatest in the field, having amassed more than 9000 runs in his T20 career. Fans were excited to see the sight of the Pakistan batting icon and were cheering and shouting the Pakistan opener’s name.
