In the middle of a challenging situation, the cameras captured an odd yet hilarious occurrence. As the ends were changed, Virat Kohli was seen walking up to the stumps and humorously moving the bails. This happened during the second session of the first test at the centurion between South Africa and India.
During the 2023 Ashes, Stuart Broad introduced the dismissal process with a change in bail. He did it on more than one occasion and it used to work out for him. Since then many have started to adopt this practice in search of wickets in Test cricket.
The first blow came from Mohammed Siraj, who caught Aiden Markram off guard for five runs. However, after adding 93 runs over the second wicket together, Dean Elgar as well as Tony de Zorzi (28) caused problems for the Indian bowlers. Jasprit Bumrah claimed two fast wickets, suggesting that Kohli’s bail move appeared to be effective. He got Tony de Zorzi caught for 28 runs by Yashasvi Jaiswal in the first over, and Keegan Petersen chopping into his stumps for 2 runs in the next over.
Dean Elgar is proving to be a big pain for Team India currently on Day 2 of the first Test. He has been playing like a rock and has putting pressure on the Indian bowlers in every over.
KL Rahul’s century helps India to 245 on Day 2
KL Rahul picked up where he left off on Day 1, adding 37 runs more to India’s first innings total. Although Rahul did most of the scoring, Mohammed Siraj did spend some time with him at the crease.
Rahul’s remarkable hundred was characterised by his refusal to take any half-measures when he felt like going all out to find boundaries and sixes. He reached his eighth Test century with a six over mid-wicket, earning him a wave of acclaim from both the Indian dressing room and the fans. Rahul’s incredible innings of 101(137) came to an end as Nandre Burger nipped back. The visitors scored 245 runs in their opening innings.
