All-rounder Hardik Pandya of India is now out of action while healing from an ankle injury. Following a horrific injury sustained during Team India’s ODI World Cup 2023 encounter versus Bangladesh, Pandya has not been a member of the Indian side.

On Monday, February 12, the interim captain of India made an uncommon public appearance following his injury. Pandya accompanied Union Home Minister Amit Shah at the Gandhinagar Premier League’s commencement.

Shah announced the league, which aims to encourage greater physical fitness, on Twitter. Pandya and Shah were observed revealing the prize. Jay Shah, the honourable secretary of the Indian Cricket Board, was also at the location.

In a tweet on the occasion, the Union Home Minister expressed his confidence that the competition will advance local sports culture.

The Home Minister wrote, “Under the leadership of Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi ji, ‘Parliamentarian Sports Competition’ is being organised across the country and under this, Gandhinagar Lok Sabha Premier League has started. I am confident that this cricket tournament, played between the 7 constituencies of Gandhinagar Lok Sabha, will prove useful in promoting sports culture and a healthy lifestyle in the area.”

Who has been leading the T20 side in the absence of Hardik Pandya?

Suryakumar Yadav led the Indian T20I team versus Australia and South Africa in Hardik Pandya’s absence. Rohit Sharma assumed command of the Afghanistan series when Suryakumar injured his ankle during the T20I series versus South Africa.

After having a hiatus of almost a year from the format, Rohit took back the captaincy. Pandya did not play in the three-match series vs Afghanistan as well. Although he is anticipated to return to captain the Mumbai Indians during the Indian Premier League in 2024.

There is no news currently whether the Team India all-rounder Hardik Pandya is fit to play competitive cricket or not. However, he has been posting workout videos on social media recently. Therefore, it suggests that he is working hard to be back for his side.
