Zlatan Ibrahimovic turns 42 today as the former AC Milan striker was born on 3rd October 1981. He had a very long career and he played for nine clubs in his 23-year long stay in football. He finally called time on his career last year after a series of injuries kept him out of the game for a long period of time.

Ibrahimovic made his professional debut back in 1996 as he played his first minutes for Swedish side Malmo. In 1999, Ajax saw the potential of the tall young striker and signed him for a hefty figure of $8.8 million. The striker turned out to be a revelation for the Dutch side as he played his first Uefa Champions League game for them in 2002. 

The Swedish striker then went on to play for two major Serie A clubs in the form of Juventus FC, Inter Milan, and AC Milan. He won major accolades and fame and broke numerous records in his 6-year stay in Italy. He won the ‘Serie A footballer of the year’ award back in 2007 when he notched up 17 goals in 26 games.

Ibrahimovic then signed for Pep Guardiola and FC Barcelona in 2009 in a five-year deal which saw him earn up to $47 million. He played some beautiful football during his time in Spain alongside Xavi, Iniesta, and Lionel Messi. He won the Champions League in 2009 as he had a special season.

The Swedish international went back to Italy and joined AC Milan in 2010 and stayed there till 2012. He was the superstar at Milan and scored goals for fun during the side’s best time before the decline. 

He then joined Paris Saint Germain in 2012 and dominated the league under the team’s new owners. The striker won trophies for fun during his stay with the French club and broke scoring records. He then joined Manchester United for 2 years and then went to the MLS to show his epic experience there.

Ibrahimovic returned to AC Milan for a final stay before retirement as he stayed for two years and brought back the glory days for the club. He made sure that the Serie A title was back to the club after a year of decline.
