Jawan Movie: Find Out! Why is #BoycottJawan trending on Twitter?

Jawan has finally hit the theatres. However, just a day before its release, the hashtag #BoycottJawan is trending on Twitter.

Jawan Movie

Shah Rukh starrer Jawan movie hit the theatres just a few hours ago. The film has been generating a lot of buzz over the last month, ever since the first teaser was released. With only one day till the film’s release, it has sparked debate. Despite the fact that the film has received record-breaking advance bookings, it trended on X, formerly known as Twitter, with the hashtag #BoycottJawan.

Jawan movie is directed by Atlee and stars Shah Rukh Khan, Nayanthara, and Vijay Sethupathi in the key roles. The film was made in Hindi, Tamil, and Telugu. A day before the film’s theatrical debut, certain sectors of social media have called for a boycott, citing Udhayanidhi Stalin’s involvement. Stalin is a well-known film producer and state minister in Tamil Nadu. He is supporting the film in Tamil Nadu and is apparently one of the film’s primary distributors in the region.

Cancel Culture attacks Jawan Movie

A few days ago, the minister caused controversy by equating Sanatan Dharma to bugs and dengue fever. This sparked a considerable outcry, and the producer-politician claimed that he was not frightened of legal repercussions. “There are some things that we must eradicate rather than simply oppose. Mosquitoes, dengue fever, malaria, and coronavirus are all things that we cannot fight; we must destroy them. This is Sanatanam (Sanatan Dharma),” Stalin explained at a seminar.

Many people were offended by his remark, and the BJP, the country’s ruling party, condemned him harshly. Udhayanidhi Stalin is Tamil Nadu Chief Minister MK Stalin’s son and the grandson of former Tamil Nadu Chief Minister M. Karunanidhi. They are members of the DMK political party.

Udhayanidhi Stalin had urged, in reaction to the legal threats and escalating controversy, “Bring it on. I am prepared to take on any legal issue. We shall not be intimidated by such common saffron threats. Under the capable leadership of our Hon’ble CM @mkstalin, we, the disciples of Periyar, Anna, and Kalaignar, would battle indefinitely to defend social justice and construct an equal society. I shall tell it today, tomorrow, and forever: our determination to remove Sanathana Dharma from Dravidian territory will not waver.”

#BoycottJawan trends:

Udhayanidhi Stalin controls Red Giant Movies, a production firm that also distributes films. According to reports, the production company has acquired distribution rights for future pan-India blockbusters such as Jawan. Not only has Udhayanidhi Stalin’s involvement with the film been criticised but so has Shah Rukh Khan’s recent visit to Hindu shrines ahead of the release of Jawan movie.

Shah Rukh Khan recently visited Tirupati’s Sri Venkateshwara Swamy Temple with his daughter Suhana Khan and co-star Nayanthara, as well as Nayanthara’s husband, filmmaker Vignesh Shivan. This prompted internet users to wonder if Shah Rukh Khan would answer Udhayanidhi Stalin’s inflammatory remarks. Some even claimed that Khan’s spiritual side was only visible when his films were about to be released.
