India pacer Jasprit Bumrah has been rested for the fourth Test, three days ahead of the game. The fourth Test will start on February 23 in Ranchi and the home team is leading the series 2-1. Bumrah has played all the games of the series. Given the history of his injuries, specifically, his back, the board has decided to rest him for the game.
On the other hand, former vice-captain, KL Rahul, who was reported to make his comeback in the team, continues to be ruled out. As per the media release, the right-hander’s inclusion in the last Test next month is subject to fitness. This means Rajat Patidar will get another opportunity in this series to prove his mettle.
“Jasprit Bumrah has been released from the squad for the 4th IDFC First Bank Test against England in Ranchi. The decision was taken keeping in mind the duration of the series and the amount of cricket he has played in recent times.
“Meanwhile, KL Rahul is ruled out of the 4th Test. His participation in the final Test match in Dharamsala is subject to fitness.
