‘Jara hatke, Jara bachke ye hai Mumbai meri jaan’ – Fans react as Mumbai hammers UP by 72 runs to qualify Women’s T20 League Final

Issy Wong in her majestic spell clinched the first Hat-trick of the WTL. She took 4 wickets by giving just 15 runs in four overs.

After an amazing bowling spell from Issy Wong, Harmanpreet Kaur-led Mumbai beat UP in the eliminator game of the Women’s T20 League. Mumbai beat UP by 72 runs and fixed their final encounter with Delhi in the finals on Sunday. Wong in her majestic spell clinched the first Hat-trick of the WTL. She took 4 wickets by giving just 15 runs in four overs.

Earlier, after winning the Toss UP skipper Alyssa Healy opted to bowl first and tried to put Mumbai under pressure. Forced to bat first Mumbai started pretty slow as they scored 69 runs in the first nine overs after losing two wickets. After the departure of the openers Captain Harmanpreet Kaur came to bat but failed to impress the audience. She was dismissed by Sophia Ecclestone for 14 runs off 15 deliveries.

Although, her departure didn’t stop Nat Sciver-Brunt from putting up a show for the spectators. She hammered all UP bowlers around the park and scored another half-century. Sciver-Brunt scored unbeaten 72 runs off 38 balls with the help of nine fours and two sixes. She also added 60 runs for the fourth wicket with Milie Kerr. With their partnership, Mumbai posted a competitive total of 182/4 in 20 overs.

Issy Wong became unplayable for UP

Chasing 183 in a knockout game was never an easy task for UP. Allysa Healy led the team started very badly as they lost early wickets. Shaika Ishaque and Issy Wong clinched early wickets to dismiss Healy and Shweta Sehrawat to restrict UP to 21 for 3 in just 4.1 overs. Meanwhile, when everyone was falling from another end youngster Kiran Navgire held an end and tried to rescue UP. Although, she failed to do so and got out after scoring quick 43 runs off 27 balls with the help of 4 boundaries and three sixes. She was dismissed by Issy Wong on the second ball of the 13th over after being caught by Sciver-Brunt at the mid-wicket.

Wong didn’t stop here and clinched two more wickets in the next two balls to outplay UP in a do-or-die game. She dismissed Simran Shaikh and Sophie Ecclestone in the next two balls to register her first Hat-trick of the Women’s T20 League. Notably, after this victory, Mumbai is set to face Mag Lanning‘s Delhi in the finals on Sunday at Brabourne Stadium. The team will look to continue their dominance and win the inaugural edition of the Women’s T20 League. Meanwhile, fans react to Mumbai’s dominating performance and call it an unbeatable team.
