‘Jaiswal and Kohli are my..’ – Former India head coach on Yashasvi Jaiswal and Virat Kohli ahead of T20I World Cup

Former India coach, Ravi Shastri wants something unusual to happen during the T20I World Cup. During the broadcast, Shastri expressed his wish to see Virat Kohli and Yashasvi Jaiswal open for India during the upcoming T20I World Cup. He praised Kohli for maintaining a good strike rate throughout the match if he gets a good batting partner. Thus, he wants Jaiswal and Kohli to open in the World Cup.

Shastri said, “Virat Kohli is capable of playing with 181 sr too when he doesn’t have a partner on the other end who scores 27(28). Jaiswal and Kohli are my openers for WT20.”

If we talk about openers, currently Rohit Sharma is having a tough time as he has scored two consecutive ducks in the two T20I matches between India and Afghanistan. As the World Cup is approaching, Sharma would want to get back to his old form to help India have a good tournament.

Shivam Dube shines as India win the T20I series against Afghanistan

India wins the second T20I against Afghanistan by six wickets. India won the toss and decided to field first. Afghanistan did bat well in the first innings and scored 172 runs. Gulbadin Naib was the team’s batting hero as he scored 57 runs off 35 balls while Mujeeb-ur-Rehman played a cameo of 21 runs off 9 balls. For India, Arshdeep Singh took three wickets. Moreover, Axar Patel and Ravi Bisnoi took two wickets each.

India’s innings started with Captain Rohit Sharma’s early wicket. He departed for a golden duck. However, the game’s momentum changed when Yashasvi Jaiswal and Virat Kohli started batting. Kohli played some of his classic shots while Jaiswal played a brilliant innings of 68 runs. After Kohli’s departure, Jitesh Sharma too got out for a duck. Then came in Shivam Dube. Just like the first T20I, Dube again scored an unbeaten 63 runs from 32 balls and also took one wicket. His consistent performance sounds like good news for the Indian team ahead of the T20I World Cup.
