Indian wicketkeeper batter Rishabh Pant met a life-threatening accident in the early morning Friday while travelling from Delhi to Uttarakhand. Pant was driving a Mercedes which hit the divider on the Narsan border of Roorkee near Hammadpur Jhal and caught fire. The 25-year-old managed to escape from the burning vehicle by breaking its glass. Following the incident, several photos and videos of the cricketer bleeding and getting treatment in the hospital were widely circulated all over social media.

Reacting to the photographs, Indian captain Rohit Sharma’s wife Ritika Sajdeh slammed people for sharing sensitive images. Ritika took to her Instagram account and posted a story where she wrote, “Shame on you for posting images and videos of someone who’s hurt and unable to decide whether or not they want that out there. They have family and friends who were terribly affected by these images. There’s journalism and then there’s just plain insensitivity.”

As per initial information, Pant was first admitted to Saksham Hospital in Roorkee. Now he has been referred to Max Hospital in Dehradun. The Indian Cricket Board released a statement providing an update on Rishabh’s injury. Indian Cricket Board Secretary, Jay Shah also said that he will be provided all the necessary support.

We are closely monitoring his progress and will provide him with all the necessary support,” the Indian Cricket Board secretary tweeted.
