Punjab and Delhi will lock horns with each other in the 64th match of the Indian T20 League 2022 at the D.Y. Patil Stadium in Mumbai on May 16. Both teams are playing against each other for the second time this season. The last time they played against each other, the Delhi smashed their opponents by a huge margin.

Coming into the game, both teams have won their last games and are still alive in the playoff race. Both teams need to win this game, otherwise either of the them might get eliminated. Both teams need to win both their remaining games if they are to stay in contention for the playoffs.

Punjab: The team is coming off a dominant 54-run win against Bangalore in their last game. Kagiso Rabada starred with the ball but the likes of Rishi Dhawan, Harpreet Brar, Rahul Chahar, etc also made valuable contributions.

Taking about the batting, Punjab scored in excess of 200 runs in the last game, thanks to sensational knocks from Jonny Bairstow and Liam Livingstone. Having said that, the team would want Mayank Agarwal and Shikhar Dhawan to produce goods on Monday.  Punjab are unlikely to make any change in the playing XI for the next game.

Key Players: 

Liam Livingstone: The explosive batter has been destroying the oppositions’ bowling unit at will this season. In the last game, he scored 70, which helped the team reach a mammoth score on the baord. He could be an important player in the next game.

Kagiso Rabada: The right-arm pacer took three wickets in the last game to break the back of the opposition. He has been the picking important wickets in the tournament and, thus, will be key to the team’s success ahead.

Delhi: The team is coming off a big win against Rajasthan. In that game, the biggest positive for the team was Mitchell Marsh’s return to form. The team will be happy with his return although they would want skipper Rishabh Pant to play a big innings. Good news for the team is that Prithvi Shaw, who was admitted to a hospital due to fever, has been discharged. It will be interesting to see whether he plays in the next game or not.

David Warner: One of the most successful batter in the history of the tournament, David Warner has done the bulk of the scoring for Delhi this season. He has scored five fifties in the tournament. He could be the key to Delhi’s success in the next game.

Kuldeep Yadav: The wrist spinner has had a tough last few games. However, before that, he was picking wickets in the middle overs and causing trouble. He is expected to do well against Punjab.
