The 25th game of the Indian T20 league 2022 is all set to see Kolkata take on Hyderabad. Both teams would want to establish their domination in this edition. Ironically, both sides have lost two games so far. Thus, a win over here can further solidify their chances to occupy a position in either of the top four spots of the points table.
Hyderabad looked vulnerable in their first two games. However, it didn’t take long for the Kane Williamson-led side to shut their critics as they then went on to win their next two games. It gets better when one realizes that their recent victory was against the in-form Gujarat. Abhishek Sharma and Kane Williamson have looked really good at the top of the order.
As for Kolkata, they have won three out of their first five games of this edition. Shreyas Iyer has been superb as a skipper so far, and has gained a lot of appreciation from the experts and pundits. However, the two-time champions did lose their previous encounter to Delhi.
A loss over here and things might look dicey for the Iyer-led side. On the other hand, the orange army have a few injury concerns, and would hope that the absence of a few of their key players doesn’t impact their performance. Thus, this game promises to be an absolute cracker of a contest. It’s an encounter between two cool leaders, and two teams who share an iconic rivalry.
This game shall be taking place at the Brabourne Stadium in Mumbai. The games that have been played over here in the 2022 edition have seen pacers generate some swing early on. However, most of the games have been high-scoring as batting gets easier as and when the game progresses. Dew is expected to play a huge role in the second innings. This would prompt the team that wins the toss to bowl first.
Predicted Playing XIs:
It was earlier confirmed that Washington Sundar would miss a few games for the Hyderabad-based franchise as he sustained an injury during their previous match. This would force them to play Jagadeesha Suchith in his place. There hasn’t been an update on Rahul Tripathi as he too suffered an injury during their game against Gujarat. Other than that, they wouldn’t want to change a winning combination.
Probable playing XI:
Abhishek Sharma, Kane Williamson (c), Rahul Tripathi/Abdul Samad, Aiden Markram, Nicholas Pooran (wk), Shashank Singh, Jagadeesha Suchith, Bhuvneshwar Kumar, Marco Jansen, Umran Malik, T Natarajan
Constant failures from Ajinkya Rahane would prompt Kolkata’s team management to play someone like Sheldon Jackson in his place. Another probable change in the XI could be Sam Billings, who might make way for Aaron Finch.
Probable playing XI:
Aaron Finch/Ajinkya Rahane, Venkatesh Iyer, Shreyas Iyer (c), Sam Billings (wk)/Sheldon Jackson(wk), Nitish Rana, Andre Russell, Sunil Narine, Pat Cummins, Umesh Yadav, Rasikh Salam, Varun Chakaravarthy
