The first T20I between India and New Zealand got washed off and the second T20I of the three-match T20I series is set to be played at Bay Oval, Mount Maunganui on November 20, Sunday. However, the weather forecasters predicted that there might be rain interruption in the second T20I as well.
To add more, Accuweather, the most trusted weather website, predicts more than a 50% chance of rains during the second T20I, much to the dreariness of the Indian fans. With a precipitation probability of 65%, the second T20I might as well be abandoned without a ball being bowled, in the worst case.
Boys were quite excited to play: Hardik Pandya
Hardik Pandya, the team India captain, after the first T20I got washed out, said that his boys were quite excited to play and added that it is a great experience to play in New Zealand. Further, the allrounder claimed the youngsters were young only by age and not by experience.
“Boys were quite excited to play. NZ is a great country, great place to play. Unfortunate to not get a game. A lot of people came quite early as well, we were excited but this is something we as professional cricketers need to accept. I know the other boys will follow exactly what the management and captain would say, they are all professionals. These guys are young by age, but not by experience” Pandya was quoted as saying.
“I think the youngsters of today don’t get intimidated by not having played too much cricket. If the situation demands, me and the more experienced players will play different roles, but this tour is for the new guys to get more clarity, opportunities and a chance to express themselves. The World Cup is done, I’ve left it behind. The disappointment will be there, but we can’t go back and change things. We’re now looking forward to this series,” he added. The Men in Blue will hope to clinch the the second T20I, if it happens and would take an early lead in the series.
