Having steamrolled the home team, India goes head to head against England again in the second ODI at Lord’s on 14th July 2022. Let’s look at all the details about the upcoming match.
India- England Second ODI:
India:
Having lost the fifth Test, India made a strong comeback winning the T20I series by 2-1 and leading the ODI series after one match. The first ODI was dominated by Indian pacers who wreaked havoc on the English batting lineup. Jasprit Bumrah and Mohammad Shami took nine wickets between them to outclass the England batters.
Although the majority of Indian batting remains to be tested in ODI, it was a positive sign for the team as Rohit Sharma came up with a sensational 76* and returnee Shikhar Dhawan with an assured 31* to win the game.
England:
It looks like England have opened a pandora’s box after the change in captaincy. They were outclassed in the T20I series as well as the first ODI with batters looking like they have forgotten batting.
The likes of Jos Butler, Joe Root, Jonny Bairstow and Ben Stokes who looked the best batters in the last couple of months looked out of depth in the first ODI. England would hope to make a great comeback in the second ODI.
India Probable XI: Rohit Sharma (c), Shikhar Dhawan, Virat Kohli, Suryakumar Yadav, Rishabh Pant (wk), Hardik Pandya, Ravindra Jadeja, Mohammad Shami, Jasprit Bumrah, Yuzvendra Chahal, Prasidh Krishna
England Probable XI: Jason Roy, Jonny Bairstow, Joe Root, Ben Stokes, Jos Butler (c) (wk), Liam Livingstone, Moeen Ali, Craig Overton, David Willey, Brydon Carse, Reece Topley
Pitch:
The pitch at Lord’s has grass and would favour bowlers like the one at Kennington Oval. Batters can however take solace in the fact that bounce and swing at this pitch are predictable. Jasprit Bumrah and Co would be licking their lips in hopes of reenacting their performance from the first ODI.
