In the ongoing ODI World Cup 2023, the Indian Cricket Board has made some special arrangements for music and a light show for fans in the stadium. During the drinks break, fans get to witness the vibrant colours of India as it celebrates the marquee event. However, after the game between Australia and the Netherlands, the light show has been the biggest talking point.
Two Australian players, Glenn Maxwell and David Warner, had two different views on the show, which created a stir on social media. Firstly, while speaking with broadcasters, Maxwell said that the idea of the Light Show is ridiculous because it affects players’ concentration. He said, “The light show is a horrible idea. It takes a while for the eyes to readjust, and it’s the dumbest idea for cricketers. Definitely, it’s great for the fans, but horrible for the players”.
Reacting to a tweet quoting Maxwell’s comments, David Warner had a different opinion on it. He rebutted his teammate’s opinion and said, “I absolutely loved the light show. What an atmosphere. It’s all about the fans. Without you all, we won’t be able to do what we love.” With his comments, Warner has left fans and cricket pundits in shock, as it’s not a usual situation when two players contradict each other so openly. Fans are anticipating a rift between the two senior Australian players.
Glenn Maxwell stole the limelight during the Netherlands game
After going to bat, first Australian opener David Warner smacked a magnificent century as he scored 104 runs off 93 balls with the help of eleven fours and three sixes. However, after his departure, all-rounder Glenn Maxwell stole the show with his furious innings. In his inning, Maxwell scored 106 runs off 44 balls with the help of nine fours and eight sixes. He rewrote the history books with his amazing batting performance.
Maxwell, in his innings, scored a century in just 40 balls, which is the fastest in the history of the ODI World Cup. He also scored the fastest ODI century for Australia, improving his own eight-year-old record. Meanwhile, Maxwell also broke Aiden Markram‘s record for fastest century in the ongoing tournament. However, the social media post by David Warner is pointing towards a possible rift between the two southpaws.
Here is how fans react to David Warner’s comments on Glenn Maxwell:
