Star England batter Harry Brook has hammered his 4th Test Century in just six Matches. This century came in the second Test against New Zealand at the Basin Reserve in Wellington. Brook smashed Kiwi bowlers when England was 3 down for 21 runs in 6 overs. Brook, in his magnificent innings, hammered all Kiwi bowlers around the park and added 294 runs for the 4th Wicket along with Joe Root.
The 24-year-old English sensation Brook has scored four centuries and three half-centuries in nine innings he played. He scored his other three centuries on the Pakistan tour last year. Notably, Brook missed his ton in the first match when he got out for 89 runs in the first innings and 54 runs in the second. On the other hand, former English captain Joe Root smashed his 29th Test century and led the team to a comfortable position on Day 1 of the game.
Earlier, New Zealand captain Tim Southee won the toss and partnered with Matt Henry to restrict England to 21-3 in the seventh over on a greenish surface. Brook countered with his fourth consecutive half-century, putting up 80 with Joe Root to take England to 101-3 at the lunch break. The second session was fully dominated by the English pair as they added 210 runs in their score and led England to a comfortable position.
Harry Brook broke a plethora of records
Harry Brook has already been called the future of Test cricket. Brook has already created a name for himself in just nine appearances. In Tests, he has four centuries and three fifties. In his latest innings against Kiwis Brook broke several records and once again craved an audience for more. He has now the most runs in Tests after nine innings as he went beyond India’s Vinod Kambli who had scored 798 runs. Brook has scored 807 runs at an average of 100.88 in nine outings.
Notably, Brook made his debut against Pakistan last year and in the Three-match Test series. He hammered three consecutive centuries on the batting-friendly Pakistani pitches. Meanwhile, fans react to his magnificent run in Test cricket and compared him with Sir Don Bradman. however, some also said that his real Test will be Ashes or India tour.
