India (IND) and New Zealand (NZ) are facing off in the three-match ODI series and it was the Rohit Sharma-led Indian team who clinched the first ODI on January 18, Wednesday, by 12 runs after restricting the Black Caps to 337. While Shubman Gill scored a double century to his name, it was Michael Bracewell who brought the Kiwis closer to the target with his quickfire 140.
On Saturday, the two teams squared off against each other and much to the surprise of the Indian fans, New Zealand were bowled out for just 108 runs, making it the third lowest first innings total of all the times the two teams competed against each other.

3) India vs New Zealand, Raipur, 2023 – 108
It was Rohit who won the toss on the day and after electing to bowl first, the likes of Mohammed Shami and Mohammed Siraj rattled the Kiwi top order, with Hardik Pandya and Shardul Thakur backing the lead pacers. To add more, after being forced to bat first, New Zealand lost half of their men for just 15 runs.
The likes of Glenn Phillips, Michael Bracewell and Mitchell Santner produced a tiny comeback for the team with their 36, 22 and 27 respectively. However, despite their contributions, the Black Caps were bowled out for just 108 runs.
2) India vs New Zealand, Chennai, 2010 – 103
The second-lowest first innings total between IND vs NZ came in 2010 when the two teams faced off against each other in Chennai on 10th December and New Zealand were bowled out for just 103, on the back of an economical three-for from veteran spinner Ravichandran Ashwin.
It was the final match of the five-match ODI series and India walked into the crease having won the previous four games. Much to the delight of the Indian fans, the MS Dhoni-led team managed to pull off a whitewash as they chased down the target with 8 wickets to spare on the back of Yuvraj Singh’s unbeaten 46.
1) New Zealand vs India, Hamilton, 2019 – 92
Shubman Gill, the Indian batter, made his debut on 31st January 2019 and the Men in Blue registered the lowest first-innings total between the two sides with the debutant contributing 9 runs to India’s scoreboard. For the unversed, it was the Black Caps who won the toss and elected to field first in the fourth game of the five-match series.
Much to the dreariness of the Indian fans, with the middle-order struggling after the initial hiccup, they were bowled out within the 100-run mark, with New Zealand chasing down the target with 8 wickets to spare. However, it was India who won the series 4-1, with their only loss being the fourth face-off.
