SRH Vs DC

In the 40th match of the Indian Premier League 2023, Sunrisers Hyderabad faced Delhi Capitals at the Arun Jaitley Stadium in New Delhi. Despite an all-round performance from Mitchell Marsh, DC failed to clinch the game. SRH beat DC by nine runs at the Kotla Stadium in Delhi to halt their two-match winning run.

Earlier, after winning the toss, SRH skipper Aiden Markram opted to bat first. The decision didn’t go well with the team as SRH got a shaky start. Apart from opener Abhishek Sharma, all other top-order batters furiously failed to capitalise on the opportunity.

In front of Mitchell Marsh’s exceptional bowling spell, SRH crumbled and threw wickets. Opener Mayank Agarwal (5 off 6), Rahul Tripathi (10 off 6), skipper Aiden Markram (8 off 13) and youngster Harry Brook (0 off 2) succumbed against Marsh.

After their dismissal, Abhishek Sharma and Henrich Klaasen hammered brilliant half-centuries to help SRH post a massive total of 197-6 in 20 overs. Abhishek Sharma scored 67 runs off 36 balls with the help of 12 boundaries and one six. Meanwhile, Klaasen scored 53 runs off 27 balls with the help of four sixes and two boundaries.

For DC, Marsh proved to be the best bowler as he clinched four wickets by giving just 27 runs in four overs. Apart from him, Axar Patel and Ishant Sharma clinched a wicket each.

Delhi Capitals failed to chase 198 runs

Chasing 198, Delhi Capitals got a shaky start as skipper David Warner was dismissed by Bhuvneshwar Kumar for a duck in the very first over. After his departure, Marsh, along with wicketkeeper-batter Phil Salt, added 112 runs for the second wicket. They built this partnership in just 66 balls and were looking comfortable before Mayank Markande broke it.

Salt scored 59 runs off 39 balls with the help of nine boundaries. Meanwhile, Marsh scored 63 runs off 39 balls with the help of four and six maximums. However, after their dismissal, DC never looked to make a comeback. In the end, Axar Patel tried to make a difference but, eventually, failed to clinch the game. DC finished with 188/6 in 20 overs.
