‘I think the team has let him down’ – IPL winning-coach backs KL Rahul amid all criticism on slow strike-rate

Amid the ongoing Indian Premier League, Indian team management has announced their 15-member squad for the World Test Championship finals.

KL Rahul

Star India batter KL Rahul’s strike rate in the ongoing Indian Premier League 2023 has been one of the biggest concerns for the Lucknow Super Giants (LSG). His slow batting approach has allegedly cost LSG several games. In their recent game against Gujarat Titans chasing a modest total of 136, Rahul (68 off 61) and his opening partner Kyle Mayers set the tone for LSG, as they added 55 runs for the first wicket.

However, GT bowlers made an amazing comeback, limiting LSG to 128/7 in 20 overs. While some experts have slammed Rahul for his strike rate, former SunRisers Hyderabad (SRH) coach Tom Moody has defended the LSG skipper, claiming that his teammates have failed him. while discussing with ESPN Cricinfo Moody said that there is no blame on KL Rahul.

“I don’t think any blame is on KL Rahul. I think the team has let him down. He and Kyle Mayers, at the top of the order, set the ideal platform to chase the target down. Whether Krunal Pandya should have come at No. 3 or not, still his contribution was adequate after that start. The rest of the team, and the way it was structured, as in the strategy around the batting order, was the difference,” says Tom Moody.

KL Rahul retains his place in the Indian Test squad

Amid the ongoing Indian Premier League, Indian team management has announced their 15-member squad for the World Test Championship finals. In the 15-member squad, wicketkeeper-batter KL Rahul retained his place despite poor performance in the recently concluded Border-Gavaskar Trophy. He might be another wicketkeeping option for the Indian team as KS Bharat’s batting abilities are under scanner.

India’s 15-member squad for WTC finals: Rohit Sharma (Captain), Shubman Gill, Cheteshwar Pujara, Virat Kohli, Ajinkya Rahane, K L Rahul, KS Bharat (wk), Ravichandran Ashwin, Ravindra Jadeja, Axar Patel, Shardul Thakur, Mohammad Shami, Mohammed Siraj, Umesh Yadav, Jaydev Unadkat.
