‘Highly disrespectful!’ – Twitter slams Bangla Tigers Cricket Team for deliberately belittling Temba Bavuma

20-20 World Cup 2022

The 20-20 World Cup has begun and the fans are enjoying several upsets in the group stage of the competition. The Super 12 stages of the tournament will begin on October 22. Before that, the teams that have sealed a spot in the Super 12 play warm-up fixtures to get ready for the big event. Bangladesh were scheduled to play their second warmup game against South Africa earlier today. Ahead of the game, the Twitter handle of Bangla Tigers cricket team shared an image on their social media which didn’t go down well with the fans.

Bangla Tigers represent Bangladesh Cricket in Abu Dhabi T10 League. In the image, they had kept the size of the Bangladesh Captain much larger than that of South African captain Temba Bavuma which made him and his team look weak. The fans were quick to point out the shocking difference and lashed out at the team’s page for their deliberate attempt to belittle the Proteas.

The warm-up match between the two teams in Brisbane on Wednesday (October 19) was abandoned without a toss due to rain, but the fans shed their anger at the controversial post.

Bangladesh lost their first warm-up fixture against Afghanistan by a massive margin of 62 runs. The Bangla tigers failed to chase down the target of 161 and could only manage to reach 98/9 in their allotted 20 overs.

Shakib Al Hasan and Co. will begin their 20-20 World Cup campaign against a qualifier in Hobart on Monday (October 24). They will look to put their best foot forward to win their maiden 20-20 World Cup title. Bangladesh are placed alongside India, Pakistan and South Africa in the same group and a couple of qualifiers will join them for the Super 12 stage.

Bangladesh made a couple of last-minute changes to their squad for the showpiece T20 event in Australia. Soumya Sarkar and Shoriful Islam have been named in the final 15-member group. The duo replaced Sabbir Rahman and Mohammad Saifuddin in the squad. Meanwhile, the fans continued to express their disappointment over the social media post.

Here’s how fans reacted to the controversial post:
