‘Hayeeee kini sohniii haiii’ – Fans react as Kiara Advani and co. lit up Women’s T20 League opening ceremony

The Women’s T20 League starts on Saturday, 4 March in the DY Patil Stadium with Mumbai and Gujarat in action on Day 1.

Bollywood actresses Kriti Sanon and Kiara Advani gave outstanding performances during the Women’s T20 League opening ceremony, as did superstar singer AP Dhillon. Although Kriti wowed everyone with a moving performance of “Chak De India,” Kiara opened the programme with renditions of her hit songs. The crowd applauded both actresses as they danced to their big hit tunes. With his conversation with cricketers Jemimah Rodrigues and Harleen Deol, AP Dhillon has already generated a lot of hype on social media, and his performance did not disappoint.

With the Women’s Premier League kicking off on Saturday, some of the best players will make their Indian franchise cricket debuts. Gujarat and Mumbai’s headline clash will kick off the much-awaited franchise League at the DY Patil Stadium in Mumbai. Twenty league games and two playoff games will be played throughout the tournament in 23 days. Each of the five teams will play each other twice throughout the 22-game season before two semi-finals decide which two advance to the March 27 final match.

Five teams will be battling it out in the inaugural edition of the Women’s T20 League

Five franchises—Delhi, Gujarat, Mumbai, Bangalore, and UP—spent a lot of money on the inaugural edition to bring in some top women players on the national and international circuits. Smriti Mandhana was the costliest player in the players’ auction; she was sold to the Bangalore franchise for an astounding Rs 3.40 crore.

On Sunday, the Women’s T20 League’s inaugural double-header day will feature a match between Delhi and Bangalore in the Brabourne Stadium. UP will face Gujarat in their league debut at the DY Patil Stadium in the evening.

The DY Patil Stadium and Brabourne Stadium in Mumbai will host 11 matches apiece. On March 21 at the Brabourne Stadium, UP and Delhi will meet in the last league stage match. The Eliminator will be hosted by the DY Patil Stadium on March 24. On March 26, the Women’s T20 League Final will be held at the Brabourne Stadium.

Among the key players, Harmanpreet Kaur was sold to Mumbai for Rs. 1.80 crores. Indian superstars Harleen Deol, Sneh Rana, and the seasoned Sushma Verma make up the Gujarat side, a team led by star Australia batter Beth Mooney. Alyssa Healy was chosen as the UP captain as they try to do well in the Women’s T20 League’s inaugural season.
