India skipper Harmanpreet Kaur may become the first Women player to be banned for two games. Apparently, she smashed the stumps ith her bat after being given out in the third ODI against Bangladesh. This game ended in a tie resulting in the series ending in a 1-1 tie. After the game, the right-hander pointed out poor umpiring in the game and called it a learning.
“A lot of learning from this game,” Harmanpreet said at the presentation ceremony. “Even apart from the cricket, the type of umpiring that was happening there, we were very surprised. The next time whenever we are coming to Bangladesh, we’ll have to make sure we have to deal with this kind of umpiring and accordingly, we’ll have to prepare ourselves.”
However, the Mumbai Indians skipper didn’t stop there. She even asked Bangladesh players to call the umpires to join the trophy ceremony. The incident happened during the trophy-sharing ceremony.
“It is totally her problem. I have nothing to do with it,” Nigar said in the press conference when asked about the incident. “As a player, she could have shown better manners. I can’t tell you what happened, but it didn’t feel right to be there [for the photograph] with my team. It wasn’t the right environment. That’s why we went back. Cricket is a game of discipline and respect.”

Talking about the rules, the Apex Council says if a player reached four or more demerit points in 24 months, they may get suspended for either a Test, two ODIs and as many T20Is. In her case, she will be suspended for two ODIs against South Africa later this year. Notably, Kaur was slapped with demerit points way back in 2017. In the semifinal of the ODI World Cup six years back, she ran for a double. In the end, she made it but a confusion with Deepti Sharma led to the former giving an earful.
