Amid the ongoing ODI World Cup 2023, the India Cricket Board is also hosting India’s domestic season. Currently, the T20 tournament, the Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy, is commencing in different parts of the country. The UP-based bowling superstar has clinched ten wickets in four games. In the recent game between Uttar Pradesh and Karnataka, the right-arm pacer clinched five wickets by giving just 16 runs in 3.3 overs.
With his amazing bowling performances, Bhuvneshwar is once again knocking on the doors of the Indian cricket team, which has been closed to him since last year. Bhuvneshwar lastly represented India in an ODI game in January 2022 against South Africa. His last T20I game for India came in November 2022 against New Zealand. After a revamp in T20I, Bhuvneshwar has been sidelined from the selections. However, his recent performances might force selectors to think about him.
Sanju Samson and Ruturaj Gaikwad continue to perform in domestic events
Apart from veterans, one young batter who always feels like he missed out on India calls by inches is wicketkeeper-batter Sanju Samson. Samson, who has been phenomenal throughout his career in domestics, is currently struggling to make his way into the national squad. However, the ongoing SMAT 2023 has been phenomenal for him. In the last two innings, Samson has scored two back-to-back half-centuries and has helped his team perform better.
Meanwhile, Asian Games gold medalist India skipper Ruturaj Gaikwad also continues his red-hot form in the ongoing tournament. Gaikwad, in his recent match against Vidarbha, scored a brilliant century to guide his team to victory. In four innings, he has scored 232 runs at an average of 77.33 and a strike rate of 179.84. He is one of the top 10 run scorers in the ongoing tournament.
