‘Ye sirf IPL mein nahi chalta hai’ – Fans react as Riyan Parag starts off Syed Mushtaq Ali trophy with match winning performances

Riyan Parag has been one of the most criticized players in recent times due to his lack of form in the Indian Premier League. But somehow, the all-round cricketer tends to find his way back into the side regardless of some poor outings on a continuous basis. But whenever it comes to domestic cricket, the star Assam player has been in some prime form. So far, the Riyan has played 48 List A matches out of which the star batter has scored 1688 runs. He also averages a whopping 42.20 and a strike rate above 100.

Moreover, not only with his batting, but the current Rajasthan Royals player has impressed one and all with his brilliant bowling as well. Also, in the same number of List A matches, the right-arm leg break bowler has picked up 50 wickets at an economy of just 4.93. In the ongoing Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy, the star all-rounder has started this edition with a bang.  In Assam’s first match against Odisha the 21-year-old did not have the best of the start with the bowl but compensated for it when the skipper came out to bat.

For chasing the humongous 227 runs to win the match, the Assam side only managed to score 215 in their allocated 20 overs. The skipper Riyan was the star performer for the side as he played a brilliant innings of 45 runs off just 19 deliveries.

In the second match of the tournament for Assam, it was the heroics of Riyan both with the bat as well as a bowl that helped Assam clinch a thrilling game by five runs. In the match, the 21-year-old all-rounder scored a brilliant 61 runs off just 34 deliveries. The innings included four boundaries and five mighty sixes.

In the second innings of the match, defending the score Riyan marched his troops well as well as also contributed with the ball in hand. Defending the total, the current Rajasthan Royal players bowled effectively. He even managed to take two wickets in the process.
