Virat Kohli has been in poor form in the buildup to the Asia Cup, he has not been able to score runs for quite some time. The star batter did not look fluent at all in the rescheduled test match against England and got a score of 20 runs there in 2 innings. The maverick had a poor ODI and T20I leg of the England tour as well and he was not in great touch.
He missed a game in the limited overs leg as well due to an injury. He was then rested for the West Indies and Zimbabwe tours, his last century came in international cricket against Bangladesh in 2019 which was a day-night test. He has had a drop in form and has been short of runs and confidence.
Sourav Ganguly had a few words to say about the former India skipper regarding his form before the start of the Asia Cup. He said, “Virat Kohli needs to score runs not only for India but for himself”. This created a big uproar on Twitter and it got the fans into a tizzy.
The fans have gone bonkers on Twitter and have lashed out at the Indian great for this statement. Things have not been good between Sourav Ganguly and Virat Kohli ever since the latter was removed as the skipper of the Indian side.
How Kohli was removed from the position of privilege made matters worse between the two and tensions have simmered between them. This had angered the cricket lovers as well.
Kohli will be rearing to get back in great form and get into beast mode when they play the Asia Cup fixture against Pakistan in the Asia Cup 2022, which will take place at the Dubai International stadium. He was seen hitting the ball well in the nets a few days earlier.
The fans saw the comment as Ganguly taking a sly dig over Virat Kohli and that his time is running out if he won’t score runs. The fans did not appreciate it. This statement has started a volley of words from the fans on Twitter. The fans have also said that everyone goes through a bad phase and that Virat will come back strong, they pointed out that the same happened with Ganguly in his career as well.
