Match number seven of the ICC Academy Summer Cup 2022 saw Mid-East Metals and Interglobe Marine play against each other at the Tolerance Oval, Abu Dhabi. The Metals won the toss & elected to bat. They had a poor start as Faizan Awan (4) was caught by Hameedullah Khan off Jiju Janardhanan. On 6/1, Mannal Siddiqui and Muhammad Nauman stitched a partnership of 50 runs in 5.1 overs. The latter then got out to Taimoor Bhatti.

Khurram Khawaja, who came at 56/2, was run out by Harry Bharwal and Hameedullah Khan. On 58/3, the team were looking in huge trouble. However, the likes of Siddique and Ateeq Ur Rehman stitched a partnership of 60 runs to lead some recovery. Manal scored 70 off 40 balls, including seven fours and four sixes, before getting out to Janardhanan.

Rehman (13) followed next and the team was at 118/5 in 14.3 overs. Irfan Ashraf’s cameo of 28* off 16 helped the team reach 175/7 at the end of the innings. Talking about Interglobe Marine bowling, Janardhanan took three wickets while Taimoor Bhatti took two and Asif Mumtaz took one.

Interglobe Marine dominated the chase

In reply, Marine had a poor start as Haseebullah Khan (9) lost his wicket in the first over after starting well. Sandeep Singh (8) followed next in the third over to leave the side on 17/2. Things got even worse for the team as they lost the wickets of Janardhanan and Fayyaz Ahmed to leave themselves tottering at 55/4. At this stage, Yasir Kaleem and Vishnu Sukumaran stitched a partnership of 87 runs.

The latter scored 25 off 18 balls, including two fours and a six. Hazrat Luqman came and scored an unbeaten 16 off five balls. On the other hand, Kaleem scored an unbeaten 87 runs off 49 balls, including seven fours and five sixes.
