The Gautam Gambhir-Virat Kohli fight during the Lucknow Super Giants vs Royal Challengers Bangalore match took the internet by storm. Both the players involved were heavily criticised and the Indian Cricket Board also fined them 100% of their match fees.
The incident has now escalated to a new level, with the audience becoming engaged. The crowd at the Rajiv Gandhi International Stadium began screaming “Kohli… Kohli” when the Lucknow mentor returned to his dugout during the match between Sunrisers Hyderabad and Lucknow Super Giants. A video of the same has gone viral on the internet.

Furthermore, several people have claimed that spectators threw bottles towards Gambhir during the game. Even SRH wicketkeeper-batter Heinrich Klaasen was displeased with the crowd’s attitude. “Disappointed of the crowd, to be honest, that’s not what you want. That also broke the momentum,” Klaasen said during the innings break.
Kohli and Gambhir were at the core of a violent verbal brawl. Both players clashed furiously after the LSG vs RCB game in the ongoing IPL 2023. In the 16th over of the second innings, Naveen-ul-Haq and Mohammed Siraj got into a verbal spat.
However, Kohli stepped in and intervened. Following the Red Army’s 18-run victory., things flared up before the post-match presentations. According to recent reports, Gambhir was not pleased with Kohli’s criticism of his teammates.
“Royal Challengers Bangalore batter Virat Kohli has been fined 100 per cent of his match fee for breaching the IPL Code of Conduct during the TATA Indian Premier League (IPL) 2023 match against Lucknow Super Giants at the Bharat Ratna Shri Atal Bihari Vajpayee Ekana Cricket Stadium, Lucknow,” an IPL statement said after the incident.
