After the hosts destroyed Sri Lanka’s batting arsenal during the ODI World Cup 2023, former Pakistani cricketer Hasan Raza gained notoriety by calling for an inquiry into the balls which the Indian cricketers receive throughout their matches.
Razas said that the umpires’ or the top cricket council’s method of distributing the balls to India should be scrutinised. The full conversation was revealed after the Men in Blue defeated Sri Lanka by an overwhelming 302 runs.
Hasan Raza said, “We are not able to understand batsmen playing against other teams but whenever India begins their bowling, bowlers like Shami and Siraj look like when we used to play Allan Donald and Makhaya Ntini in South Africa. There used to be a shine on the ball on one side and there it used to seam and swing, but here I think even the ball is getting changed in second innings. The way apex cricket council is giving these balls, or maybe the third umpire or Indian Cricket Board is giving…I think these balls should be inspected,”
Former Indian cricket player Aakash Chopra posted the comment on Twitter and expressed his shock. Hasan Raza posed the inquiry on social media which spread like fire. After that, Aakash Chopra posted a question on whether or not it was a legitimate cricket match.
Aakash Chopra wrote, “Is it a serious cricket show? If not, please mention ‘satire’ ‘comedy’ in English somewhere. I mean…it might be written in Urdu already but unfortunately, I can’t read/understand it.”
Team India’s winning run extends to seven
On Thursday, November 2, the Indian squad played Sri Lanka at the Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai. The Men in Blue amassed 357 runs in the first innings courtesy some excellent display from the batters. Shubman Gill, Shreyas Iyer, as well as Virat Kohli all hit big scores but failed to convert it.
