Indian captain Rohit Sharma recently discussed his team’s strategy for the 2023 ODI World Cup, which will be held at home in the coming months. The players would give more than 100%, according to Rohit Sharma, in order to win the major championship.
The 13th ODI World Cup will take place in India during October and November. The hosts of the major competition, including India’s victory in 2011 under MS Dhoni, took the trophy in the previous three iterations, making the Men in Blue the early favourites to claim the crown.
“Hopefully we will try our best like any other year” : Rohit Sharma
The ‘Crickingdom,’ a renowned cricket institution founded by Rohit Sharma, is moving to the US. Along with talking about the academy, Rohit additionally touched on India’s World Cup preparations. He said, “ICC tournaments are the ones you need to win. Yeah, hopefully we will try our best like any other year to have the best chance to win the Trophy for India.”
The 36-year-old last played in the opening ODI of the just finished three-match series against the West Indies. He took a break for the final two games. Vice-captain Hardik Pandya guided the group to a 2-1 series victory.
Rohit Sharma was also asked about his favourite grounds in the country ahead of the ODI World Cup 2023. It was an obvious answer as he picked his home ground Wankhede stadium as well as Eden Gardens, which is the ground where he scored his iconic 264 against Sri Lanka. Notably, the two semi-finals in the ODI World Cup 2023 are going to be held at these two stadiums.
The five-match T20I series currently pits India against the West Indies. In the first game of the series, the visitors, who were going for 150 runs, lost by a slim margin of 4 runs. In order to maintain the series, the team will try to recover in game two.
